Palmer Center Cemetery, (or the "Hidden Cemetery") Palmer, MA
Palmer Center Cemetery in Palmer, Massachusetts, or what we have always fondly referred to it as "The Hidden Cemetery", is a small, out of the way burial ground that is a hotbed of paranormal activity. (At least it was, the many times we investigated it!) Jim and I first brought this cemetery to attention on our "Massachusetts Hauntings" website in 2000 after we conducted many lengthy investigations at this site. The cemetery is located at the base of Flynt Street and Route 32 in Palmer. There is no driveable access road into the cemetery itself, one must park on Flynt Street and walk a short distance along a defunct road branching off of Flynt Street. (This defunct road was blocked off by large rocks as of 2002). There is another entrance which is gated, near Burleigh Park. The Hidden Cemetery contains very old graves dating back to early 1700, the newest being 1997. Jim and I documented many photographs of paranormal spectres, such as the very faint image of a man dressed in a Naval uniform, a woman dressed in 19th century period dress, illuminated faces alongside tombstones, and our favorite sighting... the Lantern Man.
Just a Warning: The last time we visited this cemetery was in 2002, but PLEASE note that the grounds may still be watched by a gentleman who lives next door. He WILL call the police if you venture there at night. Rightly so, as there had been vandalism to the cemetery in the past. It is perfectly fine to visit this cemetery during the day, and even at dusk, although we were told by this gentleman that we weren't supposed to be there at any time. But be warned, if you want the law after you, don't go there at night. We welcome feedback and updates about our favorite cemetery. If you've been there recently, please feel free to let us know! If you see the Lantern Man, please tell him that Mina and Jim say hello....
Local legend around Palmer always spoke of a "grey lady" who could be seen in the cemetery late at night, walking slowly while carrying a large lantern. She would bend to look at several graves, then disappear. When Jim and I first began our investigations, we discovered that this was no "grey lady" but a man wearing a long cloak, carrying a lantern. His image, holding the lantern, is obvious in many photos we have taken during our research at this cemetery. He has shown up in so many of our photos that we fondly named him the "Lantern Man." We believe he had also followed us to our home on occasion, as we had found evidence of his bright orb/lantern in photos taken around our former home. We have no idea whom he might have been in life, but we believe he is buried in the Hidden Cemetery, and roams the grounds, shining his light among the tombstones. He may have been a caretaker there long ago, he may have been a doctor visiting his deceased patients, we're not sure. One thing is sure, we grew fond of our spirit friend, and now that we're in Texas, we miss him. You may see photos of him on this page.
Our best photo at this cemetery! The faint image of a woman wearing 18th or 19th century dress can be seen. It is as if her head is turned, looking towards the camera at us.
A photo taken my our investigator friend Michelle. A man can be seen in the distance, either leaning on a tombstone or doing something else.

Tombstone with an obvious bright light, taken at late dusk. There are no streetlights anywhere near this cemetery, nor is there anywhere that car headlights can be picked up in a photo. The orb overlaps the front of the monument, lighting it.
The same tombstone in daylight, showing the dense woods behind it, blocking out lights from traffic or the street.
Just above the bright light in the above photo of the tombstone, we noticed the profile of a face.
Same photo, but the profile of the face is circled for better viewing.
within the face profile we noticed a second face.
